How do I get a reading job at a publishing company?

I recently started watching CSI:NY and there was a victim whose occupation was "A submission reader for a publishing company." I searched online for awhile and couldn't find any jobs like that. I have enough free time at my current work place to read a book/night, so where can I get a job like that?
