Is there such a thing as a low maintenance shiny floor? for busy people?

What is the material used or special cleaning tools, equipments or chemical solutions to use? I wanted to build a low maintenance house someday for myself but if I will be having future kids and a husband plus a tiring nursing job, i wanted my floors to be shiny but low maintenance. Is this possible?

Ceramic tile is a good choice. So is laminate flooring. Either one just needs periodic sweeping and mopping. (Just damp mopping laminate.) Both are quite affordable.
