Why do people in high power jobs lack compassion or understanding? They don't seem to be spiritual people?

Great question. Pure Spiritual is "surrender." All the professions you mentioned are "battle grounds." Fight and surrender... they are opposites. (with the exception of crusaders, who oddly enough have been struggling to find a way to combine the two!)

I know as the CFO at my company, it is a constant daily struggle - to be a Christian first and a businessman second. You have to treat people fairly but not always the way they would want to be treated. You have to counsel and discipline; sometimes even terminate. I just always try to do so in a manner that is kind... More

Well I think this is a generalization made by most people...my sister is a lawyer(prosecutor). She is very compassionate outside of the courtroom, she is highly spiritual. I'd have to say not only is that a high powered job but also that people aren't always like that in places of power.

For some of those jobs, the reason would be that they are highly competitive. Immoral people that are willing to do nasty things to achieve those positions probably have a better chance of ending up in those positions. This would explain the politicians, judges, corporate presidents, etc... More
