What's a quick, cheap way to learn Italian??

I want to give my dad a good gift for christmas. I was thinking I could give him like a cassette tape or a language program, so that we could learn Italian together! I saw a commercial on TV but it was like, 250 bucks. i'm fifteen i only have a summer job! i'm looking for something on the cheaper side... any suggestions?? thanks :-)

Oh,really? First and foremost, learn the basic Italian language either online or Italian dictionary or books (You can get them on Bookstores) then watch Italian channel. Make friends with Italian people and communicate with them through Italian and maybe your Italian friends can help you with your Italian language... More

ms felicity is right...you need to enrol in a language school. as to what you can give your dad this christmas, how about a DVD of an italian movie...the one w/ subtitles would be very helpful. BUON NATALE!!! merry christmas

If both of you live in Italy, best is introduce him an Italian friend who can't speak but can understand a little of your dad's language. If you are in Rome, do what the Romans do... More
