My teenage daughter wants to know,Would you be embarassed if your friends knew your dad used a sewing machine?
Her dad is not gay or anything, just single and self sufient.

my uncle does his own mending. when he got married just after the war (wwii) he presented his wife with some jeans that needed mending. she told him to either throw them out and buy new or learn how to sew his own d**n pants. hes a tight wad so he mends his own. i do too. when i was in scouts my leader was a drill... I think most people would be impressed! Sewing is not limited to just women. Some of the best designers are men... and all of them can sew.

I think that it is cool. It shows creativity and that he has a sense of himself. He is self-secure and not afraid to look less masculine. Be proud of who he is and what he likes to do.

That's awesome that he is self sufficient. NO WAY would I be embarrassed. I would have him teach her how to sew. Sewing is a lost talent( not for everyone of course) My dad was a hard worker and the bread winner in the family. No if i had an active dad I would be very proud of the fact that he could sew that doesn't make him gay it just makes him cool. My mom can't sew well so if something rips i have to take them to my grandmother.

No, not in the least. My dad uses a sewing machine too. When I was in high school, he sewed his own seat covers for his truck and made them out of a bunch of his old blue jeans. My grandfather could sew (and actually spent part of his WWI enlistment sewing airplane wings); my father could sew; my husband can sew.
