Effectiveness of Job Websites?

Has anyone found a job via the internet (, hotjobs, etc). I read that the chances of finding a job via the internet is only 5%.

I would agree. I have signed up with Monster, Careerbuilder,, and have never been successful. I had a friend tell me that she has a friend who works as a Headhunter for a job placement company called Apple, and that most placement services list jobs on these sights and more, just to see how many responses... I agree with your premise that your chances of finding a suitable job on job websites is pretty low. You are aware of the fact, that most of these so-called job websites are collecting data and personal i.d.'s in order to model enough data to determine employee salaries for their clients. First, don't post your resume at any of these places. And if you still decide to, do not ever,and i mean ever, enter in your real contact info. This is as these resumes are just major spam magnets for scam opportunities going around. Just tie in the account to a disposable email address that you wont care if it gets... More

Don't count on using a Job Website as your only source for finding a job. Use it as a tool. Do post your resume to these sites as you can get an idea of how effective it is:

It is true. I went to a class that is Mandatory for Military members leaving the military and they teach you all of this. They said there is a 6% chance of finding a job on the internet.
