I would love to have a career in graphic design, is it extremely competitive?

Are their qualifications I could add to a degree in graphic design to make me more employable? How about variations of graphic designer which are less competitive?

Highly competitive and hard to make money, particularly if you are self employed. Getting customers is a relationship process so no quick fixes here! Don't expect to earn masses unless your are exceptionally gifted and others recognise your abilities - it's harder than you think.
