I would love to have a career in graphic design, is it extremely competitive?

Are their qualifications I could add to a degree in graphic design to make me more employable? How about variations of graphic designer which are less competitive?

It is a creative field that comes from within-not a career choice for everyone- its not like you can just read 1,000 books and get a degree. Highly competitive and hard to make money, particularly if you are self employed. Getting customers is a relationship process so no quick fixes here! Don't expect to earn masses unless your are exceptionally gifted and others recognise your abilities - it's harder than you think.
