what legal action can be taken when i found my sons journal and it said he molested a younger boy?

In my sons journal i found that he had described a boy who he quote "took off his belt while he slept and touched him." The boys name is in there and the approxamite date of the offense. The other family never pressed charges and the event took place in september of 2007. Is there anything i can do legally speaking about this? In Ny state?

Not sure how old your boy is. My advice is to leave the police out of this unless you can't control him. The police and the criminal justice system can do one thing and one thing only: Punishment. They won't provide your boy with counseling. It may go down on your boy's record. He may get serious time in juvenile hall... More

Absolutely. You may (and SHOULD) call your local police. Provide the journal to the police. They will interview your son and the other boy (and his parents). They will proceed if the boy and his parents are willing to cooperate with prosecution. Call immediately.

My heart goes out to you. You legally should turn this over to the police. It is the hardest thing you will most likely ever do. However, as a parent how would you feel if your neighbor picked up his son's journal and read that his son had done the same thing to your child and had not called the police... More

You should report this to the police and give them the journal. Your son is disturbed both because he did this and because he doesn't have sense enough NOT to record he did this. If this journal is later discovered by someone else and you did NOT report it you might be considered and accessory after the fact.

Yes you should take actions most likely your son if charged. will be held not responsible and have to undergo some major therapy. If the boy is in a sexual relationship with the other child. You need to be supportive and let your views be known. Most likely this is a result of your sons sexual curiosity. First... More

You should discuss this with an attorney and notify an investigator at the local Police Dept. If you fail to report this YOU could actually be charged with withholding evidence, failure to report a crime, 3rd degree cruelty to children, and obstruction. I would not advise contacting the victims parents...Let the... More
