What do civil engineers do at their jobs?

I want to be a civil engineer. I know that civil engineer's create things to make things better like the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland. But I want to know what civil engineers do at their jobs. Do they go sit in a cubical from 9-5 Monday through Friday?

i think they babysit arquitects, mosr arquitects can do anything more than draw a pretty picture, they are the most useless life forms on earht. its your job to keep their stupid buildings from falling down

Normally they know to read and to applicate in practice what is on schematics done by architects.

civils do many things....we can work a wide field of jobs. I choose sit in a cubicle after french frying and then freezing for years in the field....its nice to be inside...when I get tired of being inside....I can pick where I want to go..not go to where the job is...
