How does a 44 yearold woman get job?

I am 44 years old and have been trying to get a job for more than 2 years now. I have even approached employers and offered to work for free to gain work experience. I've done community work which never leads to anything and I've also done hospitality courses but all the advertised jobs are for young people not people my age. I've been considering going back to school to gain more education I just think that I am too old to be thinking about going back to school. Any ideas.

There are many jobs available for ladies your age. You can try baby sitting, giving private tuitions, making pickles and jams and selling them, looking after elderly people. You can also try your hand at writing books. There are cases where women found fame and fortune in writing. JK Rowlings is just one of them.

I think that maybe you're going to the wrong places to look for work. A true statement in your question is a lot of employers ARE in fact looking for younger employees. On the opposite end, people look for middle-aged/more experienced employees due to the fact that younger people are nowhere near as dependable... More

I am 45 and in the process of changing careers. I recently read that 58% of employers are looking for people with computer skills. That has prompted a newfound interest in going back to school to gain that knowledge. Have you tried networking through the activities you have done? I also read that only about 10% of... More
