will proposals to give income tax refund checks to the poor & to extend unemployment will stop a DEPRESSION?

take a look at this news article, then tell me if what seems to be the GREATEST DEPRESSION--not a recession--can be prevented by giving tax refunds even to those on SSI, who cannot work, as well as extending the length of time you can receive unemployment benefits? what the republican Judd Gregg says seems so very contrite--i doubt he ever lost a job to outsourcing! being that the popular candidates for president are generally saying nothing about how we can get this economy back up and running because their campaign funds grow with contributions from Bottom Line Big Business corporations that do not care about your family, your self respect, or outsourcing your job, how will we pull out of this mess before we are faced with standing in bread lines? do you think Ron Paul has the solution? what is the solution? it really looks dreadful here! our dollar has lost value, people can't get a job! and, i wish to know which of the candidates you believe even has a grasp on the dreadful state of affairs of our economy? which one of them would propose closing down immigration for as long as it takes to get our own taxpayers back to work? which of them actually will push to deport illegal aliens, in order that americans again do the (mainly, TG, UNION) jobs, to pay taxes to prevent the US economy from collapsing? because, it is already collapsing due to outsourcing! this is crucial, especially if you are unemployed. i want all opinions. i do not care if you are liberal or conservative, etc. how are we going to avert a DEPRESSION, not a recession? if our economy collapses, the entire world economy collapses with it. i think this is why americans are seething with anger, ready to revolt. do you?

Rebates won't stop a depression. The rebates and unemployment will let people buy food (and employed people could used the extra cash to buy an HDTV when they might otherwise get one of the converter boxes). But food is already in demand, TVs are mostly made elsewhere... More

I look at it as a tax cut. Tax cuts are good for the economy. Will it solve the problem? Perhaps in the short term. Of course by the time that we receive the checks the economy may be chugging along at a fast pace. Economies are cyclical just like weather patterns...Hang in there. It won't be the end of the world.

It may not be enough of a solution, but I'm glad to see something being attempted no matter where it's coming from. Getting some money rebates out there won't hurt anybody. That's for sure... More

Yes, I agree: Judd Gregg COULD NOT HAVE ever lost a job, plain and simple. Besides, the congressmen get paid salaries when they do not manage anyone. And they work 2 days a week, unless they are on summer break, when they work 0 days a week. They get so many benefits: big business sends them on private trips to... More
