I turn 18 years old soon and I want to change my name....?

My name right now is Miley and I hate it- seriously. My parents said I can change it BUT (there's always that but I have to keep the M meaning the new name must start with M. I have a job and enough money to change it so that's not a problem. What are some good names that start with M so?? I really like the name Maritza. What do you think? Any other ideas starting with M?? reason for changing my name- Miley is like a little girl's name and it's just so innocent, not me. P.S. I don't like the names Melissa and Maria.

You can go ahead and change your name to any "M" name you want, but the people who have known you for years will still refer to you as "Miley". I think the only reason you associate this name to a little girls name is because of Miley Cyrus... More

I think you pick something that you won't always have to spell for people. How about Marissa? Besides Maritza means bitter. Start checking out baby name websites and focus on the M's!!

Not Maritza except as a it's a nickname for Maria. I like Maia, Megan or Marissa. Or my favorite: Madeline.

I legally changed my name in my late 20s for similar reasons and while your parents can ask you to maintain the M., it really is your choice to make. I don't think anyone should have to wear a name that doesn't fit... More

I like Maritza! I love the fact that the spelling lends to correct pronounciation! Go for it! PS: My aunt (who would be 80 if she were still alive) was named Charlsey after my Grandpa Charles. She HATED it and legally changed it to Judy -- which was popular back then.

I wouldn't change your name. I like it, and plus, if you change it.. that is basically turning down something your parents chose especially for you. My name is Sarah, but when I was 18 I added -Claire onto it, to make it less common. I still kept my name but just spruced it up a bit.
