I want to become a zookeeper!!! how?

I am in college and I am a zoology major but i can't get through the chemistry!! i want to change my major to psychology and minor in zoology. Are there any animal caretakers out there who can tell me if i can still get a hands on job with exotic animals with this education path????

I'm not a zookeeper, but in my option you should get as high of a Zoology degree and as much hands on experience as you can. I never did well in Chemistry either but, it is a requirement for most degrees. I'm sure there are also study groups and/or tutors to help with Chemestry... More

wel just do the best you can and ask your teachers about the corses u neeed to take to get into that file od work.. also, stay in school and just becasue u cant become a zookeeper( if that hapens) dont ive up

Handcuff yourself to a siberian tiger and chant "I will not unlock these cuffs until I'm a bonafide zookeeper". That will do the trick.

I used to be a zookeeper, and got the job without any qualifications other than GCSEs - this is in the UK, if you are in the US the requirements may be different, but often they just want someone who will work hard, whether or not they have any knowledge of animals... More

I have a degree in zoology and struggled through chemistry as well. I suggest you get a tutor to get through it...do not just give up. Most zoos do want a degree, but many have volunteer and internship programs to work your way up to a paid position..it all depends on the zoo. You may still be able to get a job at... More
