Why do most Americans think socialism is a bad thing?

I come from the UK and most of us are either Socialist or Communist. I mean a National Health care system isn't a bad thing. Surveillance cameras are a good thing and its even better with speakers on them. The BBC does a good job of promoting Socialism so watch BBC News.

The majority of us do not wish to be socialists nor communists. If you like socialism so much, why not move back and take your socialist promoting propoganda with you! Are you another immigrant who refuses to assimulate and wishes to come here to change things?

Most Americans are just fine with socialism as long as we call it something else -- public highways, public parks, public restrooms.
