moving to San Deigo?

We are thinking of a move to San Deigo. We now live in Colorado, and are so sick to death of the snow and weather. It is beautiful and all, but we cannot stand it here any longer. My husband makes around 65.000 a year in CO. Are there any good places close to Lakeside where we can raise our three kids? We have heard Santee, Poway, Alpine, and Rancho San Deigo may be good choices. Also, aside from outrageous rents, are utilities, water gas, electrility, expensive? What other things may be to consider? The town that we live in in Co. is quite expensive, and we were just wondering what is best for our kids. I will get a job in retail wherever we end up. Any input would be extremly helpful Thank you

Lakeside, Santee, and Alpine are considered East County and alright places, relatively affordable by San Diego standards. It's a little more rural than other suburban ares of San Diego and just downright country in some areas. They still have rodeo and western shows in Lakeside, so if you like that type of country... San Diego is awesome, just bring a heavy bankroll. Everything here is expensive - food, gas, utilities, entertainment, etc... Check with the chamber of commerce and visitor's bureau, and maybe the census bureau too.

San Deigo is really a bad place to raise kids. All Califronia is really expensive.I bet you one of your kids does not want to move

If you are looking for a decent place to live, stay away from Lakeside & Alpine. Poway is nice place to live. Don't really know enough about Rancho San Diego. Santee is ok. I would suggest Poway if you can afford it. Maybe Carmel Mountain Ranch. Both are also good places to raise kids. Also nothing here is cheap. Get... More

Definitely move to Poway for your kids. They have one of the best school districts in the State. There are lots of good programs in the Poway area and the people are very friendly.
