What kind of welder should someone new get? It needs to weld up to 1.25" steel tube-16 guage.?

what is easiest to use that will get the job done for this thick a steel? is arc tough to learn will mig be strong enough?

Get a wire feed TIG machine for ease of use. 16 Gauge is not very thick and can easily be welded with a small machine.

miller/lincoln are some of the top brands out there.yet hobart makes some sweet machines for this type of welding.

{Stick }ark is to hard for thin and beginner . MiG will do a much better job on thin stuff. Depends on how much you want to spend. If all you want to do is weld tubing , a 110 volt will be plenty strong with out the argon gas. Off course one with the gas will weld much cleaner and better. The bottle set up alone is... More

Mig welder would be best for thin 16 ga. Yes it will be plenty strong.

You will have problems stick welding material that thin. Get a good MIG welder.
