What kind of engineering is better aerospace or mechanical?

I am 16 and debating between what engineering I should major when I get to collage. My choice would be Aeronuaticle but people have told me mechanical is better. I just need more peoples opinion.

I actually had the same problem! I ended up choosing Mechanical Engineering for a couple different reasons. One reason is that although I liked spacecraft and planes, etc., I wasn't 100% sure that I wanted to only be specialized in that. mechanical.. many more career options for an ME than an aerospace engineer. Also, take a look at real-dollar engineering salaries over the last 10 years before you decide. Engineering jobs are being off-shored and for those that aren't, wages are being suppressed by foreign engineers (ala H1B and L1).

If you are unsure I would choose mechanical engineering. Aerospace industries will still hire you as a mechanical engineer. The curricula between Mech-Es and Aeros only differ by a two or three courses... More

I HIGHLY suggest going into mechanical engineering. Like what was mentioned above, ME is a bigger "umbrella" that covers a lot of industries, such as aerospace, defense, automotive, manufacturing, etc., compared to Aerospace.
