Alternatives to universal health care. What are your thoughts?

I am not for universal health care, but I think there needs to be change in the current system. This is pretty simple and i know business owners will disagree, but what are your thoughts? Have all employers offer health insurance and cover 25% percent of the cost, but be able to right off the cost at the end of the year. Everyone is required to have health insurance, and if you don't you do not receice treatment. I realize the people who can not work will still have to be covered by the government, but most people are employed. what are your thoughts on this? Do you think it would work?

I'm not sure why so many want to continue to tie insurance to employment. Right there it is an issue--lots of folks who would be self-employed or such would still be up the creek without REFORM of insurance... More

I like MCcAIN'S idea. He will give tax-exemptions for the people that need healthcare. Up to $5000 per family per year. That way you choose what you want and it will be private not universal cheap crap! SMALL GOVERNMENT= MORE CHOICE AND FREEDOM!

We should look at the other 18 industrialized countries that have universal health plans, and pick the best of the best. Than take out any short comings (if any), and get on to more important issues (there are plenty in this country).

How about everyone get a job and pay their own way in life. Personally I joined the military and got my free health care for the rest of my life but I did work for it.
