Border Patrol job questions?

Border Patrol is going to have a job fair in my town soon and i was wondering if somebody who knows about the job could tell me how physically challenging the academy will be. Now i know that some recruiter or academy instructor will answer this question by giving me by-the-book answers. I'm not looking for that. I'm looking for unbiased answers from recent academy grads who can tell me the honest truth. Is the academy tough or is it one of the those academies where they will push all the recruits through because they need more bodies out there patrolling the border ? How hard is it to get in ? Like, the application, background check process, etc. Is it fairly easy to get through that and will they go deep into an applicant's background ? Once you graduate, what is the border patrol like ? Is it a crappy job like many people think it would be, out there in the desert for hours, senselessly searching for jumpers on an uncomfortable ATV, or is it gravy ?
