A couple of months ago I visited friends in Louisville, and it really is a pretty cool place. Lots of things going on, and the people are friendly.

Ft. Mitchell is a great community. Although you are home-schooling the Beechwood school system is ranked by US World & News reports. It's close to highways and shopping and is a very laid back community. Boone County (Burlington, Hebron, Florence) is nice but very congested. Union is another nice area.
