Can you make good money as a car salesman?

I'm thinking of looking for a job as a car salesman in a reputable garage. Can you make good money doing this? I live in Scotland, by the way. I did work for Arnold Clark years ago but there treatment of their staff is abysmal and the basic salary is terrible. However, I have heard that it all depends on what garage you work for. Does anyone have any ideas?
