How long does it take to get to Staten Island from Manhattan?
I'm thinking of moving to Staten Island, but I have a job in the city. I want to know if it's going to be impossible to commute. Also, if I move, I am wondering how it would be possible to get someone to drive there to move my stuff. Anyone got the answers? Thanks!

The ferry crossing is 25 minutes, and during morning and evening rush hours there is a ferry every 15 to 20 minutes. It's 25 minutes by ferry. Thousands of people commute from Staten Island to Manhattan every day, so it's definitely not impossible.

It takes about 20 minutes from the ferry terminal to Lower Manhattan. :)

The actual ferry ride, as has been pointed out, is pretty quick and quite pleasant. the total time for the Staten Island Ferry ride between Staten Island and Manhattan is about 30 minutes. there are also express MTA busses that run between SI and M with pretty good schedules.
