When potential jobs do a background check what are they checking for?

Do they call all your previous employers, do a criminal background, credit check? Which one is the main one that is done in a job background check? Thanks!

criminal check. lol..... your credit has nothing to do with your job. And sometimes, they will call previous employers.

Everything. They look to see if you have any criminal behavior because no company wants the liability of hiring somebody that is a criminal. They look at a credit check because somebody with really bad credit is a poor risk, too. First off, they know you don't know how to handle your money and live within your means... More

It is sad but some employers do a credit check. And if your credit is bad they want hire you.A criminal back ground check it to check your criminal history.
