I just retired from my career & would like to find a job as a front desk clerk for a hotel.?
I worked in the skilled trades for 20+ years and have no experience as a front desk clerk. How do I go about getting one of these jobs?

Hotels are part of the hospitality industry. You may need to go to school to specialize in this area. Drop in at a local place and casually ask at the desk about requirements. The Muse

Make phone calls to hotels and motels to find out if they are hiring. You can also fill out some applications for the job of front desk clerk.

I have worked (and still do) in Hotels for a few years now and many managers are not looking for hotel experience as much as customer service and computer skills...the rest can be trained as there are several different systems used in the industry you may use one at one hotel and something completely different at the... check the web sites for the big chains (Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott) or where ever it is that you would like to try working for. Also check with the hotels your area to see if they are hiring. Include a cover letter explaining what your salary expectations are so they know what you want from an employer.
