How does one gain consulting experience?
I've been working in human resources for a few years now and would love to move into something a bit different. It seems like many of the consulting jobs advertised require 3-5 years of experience, which I don't have! Any thoughts?

DO NOT let those 3-5 year experience notes stop you. There is only one way to get experience and that is to go out and find it. please go spend the $12 on "The Dip" by Seth Godin. It is a terrific read at this point in your decision process.

You can take classes. or you can simply open your own consulting business. Its best to have degrees in the courses when you do this, but you open up your own experiences. I did this with my Insurance license. I opened up my own brokerage service. I did pretty well. I gained some extra experience for my resume.
