What tax can I claim for working from home?
I am an employee, I get paid my weekly wage as per normal except I work from home rather then an office. What and how much can I claim for tax? ie electricty, laptop (that i bought and paid for myself which I work off) rent etc. Any help would be great! Thought i'd get geared up for this years tax returns.

You should consult an accountant for the last word on this, but as a rule, you can take a percentage of the cost of the house and utilities based on your office space... More

The previous answer is incorrect. Employees cannot claim a deduction for their home rent. And you cannot claim expenses for travelling between your workplace and your home office or entertainment expenses such as buying meals for your employer's clients or business associates... More
