whats your take on Medical Transcriptionist jobs? Are they legit stay at home kind of work or scams?

Has anyone ever took this course at home? Is it a scam,or can you really make money doing it? do you think its a hard course? would love some detail or imput please I put this in this catagory because Im sure alot of moms have checked in to this as a way to stay at home with their kids and still make $

Medical transcription is a great job to have as a stay at home mom... if you can get a job doing it. Even if you've gone to school for it, most places don't want to hire people who don't have a lot of experience doing it simply because it takes a little while to get "good" at it. I took an extensive (and expensive) medical transcription course in order to work from home. The course itself took about 6 or 7 months to complete. I then began looking for jobs. I have my medical transcription certificate, but couldnt find any jobs from home. Most places want you to have 2-5 years "in house" experience before they will hire you. I suppose its to see your work before they hire you. Once you get the experience and can find work from home, its actually a great "job". My sisters-... More

It's a legit career choice; however, you must choose a reputable training program or its a waste of money. Learning MT is not easy, but is worth the effort if you like that type of work. Best wishes to you.
