Give me a example of using your initiative in a previous job roll?

I've just recently been asked this question in a job interview. Now, i understand the question, but my mind is completely blank and i just need some kind of kick start that might jog my memory in my own personal previous experiences. What would your anwer to this question be?

On my job, I had several complicated processes that I would have to do on a regular basis. In addition to just doing those processes, I documented each process step by step, and created a shared directory where other members of my team could access the information. When I recruited I always put 'has to display initiative' in the advert and the job specification. When I then asked at interview how a candidate had done this I'd say 99 from 100 couldn't answer. I don't know what line of work you are in but here are a few examples that might help you... More
