How were the women and children affected at the time of civil war?

Women in the south were left to run farms and plantations while their men were away fighting. Prior to the Civil War, Women’s Rights were gaining momentum especially after the Seneca Falls Convention (as women tried to move away from the whole idea of Cult of Domesticity). As the debate over slavery becomes a national conflict that jeopardized the union, the topic of women’s rights slowly vanished.
