What can I do to advocate women's rights in regions of the world where their rights may be suppressed?

For example, are there any international organisations that advocate equality for women and campaign for women's rights and interests?

To be honest, the only way you can truly help women in those parts of the world is to go over there with a gun and defend them. You cannot trust international organizations and you cannot trust governments of those places. Simple but harsh facts.

There really isnt a lot you can do really. Relying on the government to do something about it should not be expected. I think Amnesty International is probably your best bet. They have run many campaigns, including, for example, supporting the women in Darfur. I remember last year they ran a campaign called 'The truth isn't sexy' to try and stop women (I think Eastern European women in particular) being traded as commodities... More
