Is it true that any brake pads besides Honda brake pads will cause squeaking and squealling?

I heard this from a service advisor at a Honda dealership hence my reluctance to believe him. So can anyone confirm if I should make sure my brake pads come from Honda. I think I've heard it from someone before back in the day but I'm not sure.

today brake pads from your local auto parts store work fine and don't squeak. Just make sure new brake pads have shims on the back of them (shims is thing that make it quiet).

Usually. If you can find aftermarket ceramic pads they probably will not squeak.

most of the time brake pads squeak is not the fault of the pad ...its the fault of the technician that preformed the brake service.......the biggest difference in the cost of the pads are ...how long they last....what they use for a bonding agent, and material quality......ceramic pads are ok if you want oem.....but... In my experience that is an untrue statement. However by using the cheaper after market brake pads you are more likely to have a squeak. For the best results with aftermarket pads by the premium quality brake pads made from the same composition material your car originally came with.

He's just trying to sell you Honda pads, he's full of crap!, go to any parts store and get the medium priced pads or the better pad and you will be fine, raybestos makes a real good pad that I always use on my vehicles and never had a squeeling problem with them.

when they stopped making the asbestos pads, this problem became a pain it the a*&. yes honda brake pads can make a lot of noise. what you could try is the shims that go between the pad and the caliper, or the stop squeak compounds. they do help. at the same time you need to get rid of as much of the dust as you can...
