I've never heard of any of these myths; but then, I've never been pregnant... More

It is just an old wifes tale! I reach above my head all the time and I am 38 weeks pregnant with no problems so far!

don't do any heavylifting of files above shoulder height, but stretching / reaching is fine!

i believe this is from the old belief that stretching will make the umbilical cord wrap around the babies neck. I think its a bunch of crap. i stretch all the time and i think the doctor would probably stress it as something not to do if the baby could choke itself

It's an old wise tale...if you stretch your hands over your head it is said that you will wrap the baby cord around it's neck...not true. The baby moves around so much your movement won't bother it too much. Plus 1 in 3 baby's cord is around their neck at delivery (saw it on discovery health) the doctor either unwraps... More

Bologna, reach on. As long as it's not strenuous you should be fine. The nonsense about the cord is not true, as it has so much blood pumping through it, it's tough and thick. I do the same thing, reach for files and what not above my head all day, nothing to worry about =)
