How can you determine whether you are at an entry-level, intermediate, or advanced in a skill or trade?

There are some job postings that state that they are looking for someone with intermediate skills in i.e. excel, word, powerpoint. There are also some job postings that say they are looking for someone who is at an Intermediate level, not entry level or management level. Please help me and explain.
