Why don't Wall Street analysts, economists and employers just tell the truth about the crappy economy?

I've been looking for a job for months and nobody wants to hire because the economy is awful right now. I don't know where people are going to work. I don't know how they're going to pay their bills. Anyone who is unemployed understands what I am saying here. Those with jobs might understand. And certain politicians.

Why would wall street or the government tell you the truth? Wall street makes money when people buy and sell stocks, if they tell you stocks are a terrible investment they won't make any money. If the govt tells you things are bad you'll want a new government. Better to sell good news I think.
