Are loan officers allowed to accept gifts from clients?
I'd like to give my loan officer a gift card, he sacrificed a lot of his commission to get my closing costs down. He has done a great job, I've already fired another loan officer and realtor in my home buying process, so I want to give him a gift to show my appreciation, I'm hard on people who don't give 100% and I show great appreciation to people who do. I live in Oregon, is it appropriate in that state, I don't know how to find out.

depending on the state u r in and the company the officer works for this may be illegal, be careful, and keep it between the two of you, it is a great gesture and i am sure it will be appreciated. descretion is adviseable here u certainly dont want to cause the loan officer a problem.

A gift card is fine, but you may want to give it to him in person if it is possible.
