Is it possible to switch air force careers once ive been giving a job of my list?

I'm recently became more and more interested in sere special forces, i've been given a ship date and job, but dont leave for basic for a few months. Can i request a different job now or at basic?

SERE is not special forces. At Basic training, you will have a chance to volunteer for SERE. Generally during the first two weeks of basic, A SERE recruiter will make a presentation to your flight.

I know the army you can switch jobs until you leave. Not sure if the Air Force is different.

Although I am not positive, I believe that you choose special forces after you have been in and completed basic. You may have to be chosen. If so, then how could they make a decision on the most qualified without seeing what they are capable of? I would definitely talk to my local Air Force recruiter though. He/she... More

As someone else said, SERE is not Special Operations .. so do not go into it thinking that it is. It is not a combat job, you won't do spook work, etc. Make sure you know exactly what it is before you attempt to get it or you'll be disappointed.
