Is it necessary to follow up with a thank you note for an interview with a job recruiter?

I know one should always follow up with a thank you note when being interviewed by a prospective employer. However, what if the interview is in a job staffing agency with a job recruiter, do the same rules apply? If a thank you note is required in this type of situation, what would be a good example of such a note?

I would send an email. A simple thank you for your time I look forward to working with you agency. I would make reference to the specific type of work you are interested in.
