Are hairdressers as dumb as they appear?

The girls at my school who werein the lower sets and didn't pass any exams went onto do hairdressing or beauty therapy at college, most of the time just to fill in a couple of years until the got pregnant. Beauty therapists and hairdressers have this shallow, thick, reputation where all they care about is looking like bimbos and getting a goodlooking chap to hang on the arm of. Is this true? Surely there are some who set up in business on their own and do actually have a brain? Are these ones few and far between???

A lot of people go into the business because they are creative and enjoy making others look their best. You are describing a shallow stereotype.

Not necessarily dumb, but most have no class. They're also very renowned gossips.

I think it takes quite a lot of talent to cut hair and patience to style it! I know i couldn't do it.

She is intelligent and good at her job, she has great kids, the oldest is a pre school in the mornings, middle one at nursery school and youngest has just turned one. I am sure all hairdressers aren't all dumb but lately I hate them. None of them seem to know how to style or colour and they still charge a fortune.
