	Have you ever wanted revenge??? How and why??? I am just wondering if I am the only person out there who feels like revenge. I have been screwed around, mistreated and belittled by someone and they have gotten away with it completely. They have even moved on to a great job, new car, $$$ and i am left with the pieces. This person has been careful to never put things in writing and is a skilled bull-shit'ter and i am afraid it seems he will get away with everything. i don't want to get into details here, but he has royally screwed me and been nasty beyond words. what can i do? do i ring up his new boss? do i undermine him somehow? how do i do this? should i bother? i would wipe the floor with him if i could, but i have not had the chance. what would you suggest? learn to forgive??? No, I can't let him succeed. I have to screw with him. That's how I feel. I can't let him move on. He has screwed me proper and I can't let it go... Yes, you make a good point, Andrew. Don't listen to the proponants of Johnny-come-lately religions. They overlook the fact that their god is highly into the whole punishment thing. Revenge is a necessary part of the world, wrongs must be punished. the courts exists for the sake of correction. Without penalties, the world would be in chaos. You yourself will not be able to "get over it" until justice is served. Just because society doesn't have the time or resources to punish every wrong doesn't mean you personally can't "make things fair". To suppress will not fix this. Forgiveness is just "holding it in". Many of us have felt that way, and now scientists say they know why. A new brain-imaging study suggests we feel satisfaction when we punish others for bad behavior. In fact, anticipation of this pleasure drives us to crack the whip, according to scientists behind the new research. The findings, reported in today's issue of the journal Science, may partly explain a behavior known as altruistic punishment: Why do we reprimand people who have abused our trust or broken other social rules, even when we get no direct practical benefits in return? "A person who has been cheated is [left] in a bad situation—with bad feelings," said study co-author Ernst Fehr, director of the Institute for Empirical Research in Economics at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. "The person would feel even worse if the cheater does not get her or his just punishment." Human societies are an anomaly in the animal world. Ours are based on a detailed division of labor and cooperation between genetically unrelated individuals in large groups. Fehr and his colleagues suggest that the feeling of satisfaction people get from meting out altruistic punishment may be the glue that keeps societies together. "Theory and experimental evidence shows that cooperation among strangers is greatly enhanced by altruistic punishment," Fehr said. "Cooperation among strangers breaks down in experiments if altruistic punishment is ruled out. Cooperation flourishes if punishment of defectors is possible." The scientists measured blood flow in the test subjects' brains using a technology called positron emission tomography (PET). The researchers injected water with a unique signature into the bloodstream of each volunteer, then scanned the person's brain when the water, carried via blood, reached the brain. "Increased cerebral blood flow in a certain brain region means more oxygen consumption and more brain activity in this region," said study co-author Dominique de Quervain, a neuroscientist at the University of Zurich. The team scanned the brain activity of male volunteers participating in a game of exchanging money back and forth. If one player made a selfish choice instead of a mutually beneficial one, another player could penalize him. The majority of players elected to impose a penalty even when it cost them some of their own money. Doing so, the researchers found, activated a region of the brain known as the dorsal striatum. Previous research has shown that this region is involved in enjoyment or satisfaction. Brain scans during the experiment also showed a correlation between a person's brain activity and how much punishment they choose to mete out at their own personal cost: Individuals with stronger activations were more willing to incur greater costs in order to punish someone else. (If you're willing to use your time and energy to punish this person, you care more about society and "the next guy" than those who "let it go". I have always wanted revenge on those high school bullies for whacking me up, sabotaged me and i ended up trouble with the teachers and Dean. They took videos of me and made me look stupid, spread horrid gossips that were untrue and now everyone sees me the way the bully want it to be. One day, i would seek revenge on them. Yes, I had a friend who recently resurfaced in my life after many years. We were really close...like brothers. He needed to borrow some money, so I lent him $1,000. He never paid it back and continued to lie, saying, "It will be here tomorrow." Even after I told him to just tell me the truth, he continued to tell me bull sheit stories as if I were some stranger. My soon-to-be-ex-husband has done the most unimaginable things to me and our 7 month old son. I could go on for days about what he's done, but I won't... I thought of soooooo many things I could do to get back at him for what he has done. But you know what? I believe that one gets back what they give in one way or another... and one day he'll pay for what he's done to our baby and myself. So I haven't sought revenge and I won't. 	How do I get a job with Dodgy work history and no experience? Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. 	Why honesty, hard work and dedication have no place at work? Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why?
