I am moving to Texas in October and would love some advice!?

My boyfriend will be attending Ocean Corp. college in Houston. We are moving from Annapolis, MD. We are thinking of living in Galveston, mostly just to be near the ocean. I would love to live somewhere away from the congestion and around "good" people. I don't mind commuting for work to Houston. If you all could just steer my in a direction in terms of good and safe neighborhoods around the Houton area I would be greatful. Also, I am a Marketing/Public relations major (just short of my degree) any ideas for work? Also, what is fun to do there and anything else you could let me know would be great! Thanks so much!

Don't move here. That's my advice. Houston is boring and not at all cosmopolitan, and they try so hard to be like NYC. But guess what. They never will be like NYC. Sorry Houston people.

I live in the northern end of Houston and I've been here 15 years. I think the first surprise most people get after coming here is how really BIG Texas and Houston really is. The drive from the center of Houston downtown to Galveston is a little more than an hour, more if there is traffic or an accident. AND most... More
