what are the diffrences between crew chief in the army and the airforce?

i think the army crew chief actually get to fly or are more aprt of the crew what about th airforce do they only get to do maintenece or are there some of them that fly? why did army seperate crew chief and gunner jobs unlike the army they are the same?? refering to helicopter crew chief

Crew chiefs don't get to fly the planes, only officers and warrant officers, but they are in the aircraft. Crew Chiefs supervise the other men and cargo ( I think)

I know in the Marines crew chiefs get to fly but your not a pilot you own everything from the cockpit back and you also have an AO(aerial observer) on some flights. Crew chiefs perform whats called a daily inspection and it is required to be signed off before flying so you will need to do some maintenance but in most... More

My husband is a crew chief for c-17 in the air force. He only does maintance on the planes and does not fly on the plane, but they do have what you call an FCC which is a Flying Crew Chief and they fly with thier plans on a mission and do any required maintance and checks that the plan may need.
