Is it necessary to put how long you worked a job on the resume?

When you do a resume is it a key thing to put your length of employment on it? I have a bad history and haven't lasted too long on my jobs. Another opinion I could use from you guys : The last job I had was the longest I've kept a job (2 yrs) but I was fired! Should I put it down on the resume or no? Will they contact?
