How to become an author?

Well I am 16, and lately I've been going over what I want to do in life. I change my mind on a career so much. I need some information on what it takes to become an author. Is college required, what are the requirements needed. How much would an average author make. Also, could writing a book just be a side job to make money for?

There is no average... More

Most people make little or no money as authors. The whole publishing contract is based upon advance payments versus a publisher's investment. If the cash paid to you by the published for your advance is not recouped, chances are the company will drop you. Making a modest profit is good enough to keep publishing, but... More
