My job terminating my job position to save money is this legal?

I have worked for this company for 7 years. They want to get rid of four shift supervisor to make one day and 1 nignt supervisor. They offered me a job which will still cut my pay in half. I am on the verge of having to file bankruptcy.

Yes, of course, it's perfectly legal. They are under no obligation to continue to provide positions they don't need and/or can't afford. If the company is in trouble or losing money, it sounds like they're doing the only reasonable thing and trying to cut back on their expenses... More

It is absolutely legal. Look for a position similar to yours at a NEW company. I have to tell you though, things are VERY tough all over.

Yes, it's legal for a company to downsize (which is what they are doing by reducing the number of supervisors). A lot of company's are outsourcing functions, outsourcing jobs, you name it. It's a recession and jobs are getting harder and harder to find... More

Sorry for your financial troubles. But yes, it's legal - why wouldn't it be, unless you have a contract regulating termination conditions, then they'd have to follow the contract
