How much surveillance do you think the government is actually doing on ordinary citizens?

For example, I got a violation notice in the mail for going throgh the toll booth without paying 13 times. They had everything documented--photos of the car/license plate, the time(military time to the very second) and going back 2 years. I'll bet you everything you say on the phone is recorded and stored in a data base. I wonder about the internet-is that regulated yet-I'm not so sure?

I think the government actually wastes very little time surveilling ordinary citizens. They save their surveillance equipment for where their interests lie, like in the revenue generated by toll booths.

I'm as opposed to domestic spying as anyone, but what happened to you at the toll booth was law enforcement, not spying.
