What are some tips on researching an employers credibility before accepting a job with a company?

Recently a lady called me about a job in the health care field. I have never heard of the company yet she says the company has been around for 27 years. There was some videos and such but it look a lot like an infomercial you would see on night time television. What are some good tips on researching the legitimacy of a company that is trying to recruit you to work for them?

First you should find out if this company has a website and check out information about them, like how long they have been in business, what the company specializes in, how long the average employee stays with that company, the average salary and wage people get paid who work for them, and so forth. Do a web search for both positive and negative comments. Research their website if they have one. Go to Dunn & Bradstreet and pull their business report, check to see if any one you know works there or has worked there in the past, and check with the BBB... More
