How do I express interest in a position that I was previously rejected for by email?

A couple of months ago I interviewed and was rejected for a compensation analyst position. The company now has the position listed again and I would like another chance. The hiring manager gave me her card after the interview, so I have her contact information, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate to ask her to consider me again. Any advice?

Try again. You may have been their second choice and the person they did hire didn't work out so the position is open again. Employers usually don't go back and look at old application or resumes. The "we will keep this on file" means in a box in a back room that nobody ever looks at again unless there is an EEOC... More

Yes, contact her again. This time by written letter. Tell her that there are some positions you feel are made especially for you and this is just such a position. Ask if there is a possibility you could meet and discuss the position further.
