How do i explain this on my application form?

Ive got a Bsc in chemistry but cant find a job with my qualification. I wanna apply for Lab assistant jobs in hospitals but im overqualified for that.How Do i explain that. I havent got a work experience with my degree because i got pregnant and stayed home.Its been 3 years since i got my degree.

Lab jobs in hospitals are seldom for chemists - they are for biochemists, microbiologists and, increasingly, biomedical scientists. So unless your degree contained a significant biological component you are hardly overqualified for hospital work... More

just take the job. it will give you experience. from there you can then branch to other positions.

try finding another position higher than lab assistant. for sure there are clinical chemists/ bionanalytical chemists in hospitals that are more fit for your bs degree.

You are overqualified for a job? Just put on application your degree and say u havent worked due to child. You mean u would not be hired as a lab assistant because you are overqualified?

I think you're lack of work experience would even out the fact that you are technically over-qualified. Just apply.

I used to do staffing and interviewed a ton of people....One, explain that you realize that you are over qualified and you know that without starting somewhere you can't get anywhere. To get going consider doing a Post Graduate Certificate of Secondary Education(Or some equivalent of the PGCSE if you are in other than the United Kingdom)This qualifies you to teach in a school.Other possibilities would include home tuition or as a school lab tech.I hope you get some start soon;it can be depressing to...
