What is the best and most successful method for an English national to relocate permanently to the states?

My wife and I want to move to the stated from the UK but the visa situation is a nightmare. I thought for UK citizens it would be easier given our close relationship with the states but apparently that isn't the case. We're not allowed in the green card visa lottery either which is a shame. Anyone have any relocation advice to allow my wife and I to move to America?
