Do I have to file income taxes if I am 14?

I am gonna get a work permit (14 year olds are allowed to work in California) and I talked to the manager at Taco Bell and he said I could work 3 hours on a school day and 8 hours on a non-school day. So anyways, do I need to file income taxes?

go to your school's guidance office or main office and ask for your working papers. you will receive a card which states the parameters allowed for your particular age group (ie what hours you can hold and what sort of job you can hold). when you receive this, make a copy for your boss and keep the actual card. when... you dont get tax refunds until you are 16, at least thats how it was in my state

You have to be over 18 to pay income taxes, that's the law, follow it.

I'm pretty sure it's once you're 18...but your parents should have an accountant and they'll be able to ask them. You can't sign an legal documents until you're an adult....

If you were to work the maximum that would be possible, it would be 3 x 180 + 8 x 180 = 1980 hours (ignoring complications of holidays and the like this is simply based on the usual school schedule of 180 instructional days per year). Yes, anyone who receives real paychecks in a given calendar year has to file taxes after the beginning of the following calendar year, regardless of age.
